Polished using abrasives and pastes, cycles of etching to reveal the hamon and banding, very difficult to take photos of this hamon because the surface is so reflective, it’s easier with your eyes 👀
C110 from Achim in Germany, a lovely clean steel, probably some of the cleanest steel available, low alloy content makes for a lovely honyaki, not so much banding but a very crisp hamon and some nice ethereal ashi
This knives are made from carbon steel not stainless steel, this allows them to take a fine edge fairly easily but has a downside that they will rust not given the proper care and attention. Carbon steel forms a patina which can be very beautiful and acts as a protective layer slowing further corrosion.
