bog oak handle, Holly pin. Jointed integral bolster, wedged so can be removed or replaced.
Removable if you so wish, if you do not wish then let me know and I’ll add glue. I will send extra bits of Holly if you wish to remove it (will require whittling)
I could waffle in about how this knives bolster is inspired by Japanese joinery, but I won’t, ok I will a little, it was another idea that needed to be out of my head and into the world, it required a fair bit of patience with a bunch of files and chisels but I think it was absolutely worth it, I might even make some more. The sides and chamfers on the bolster have been finished using a smooth cut file as a nod to how the whole thing was shaped. The timber was cut using saws chisels etc because I’m a real craftsman see
This knife has its bevels polished out using natural whetstones, This process means the upkeep of the blade should be significantly easier especially if you know your way around a whetstone. Flattening the bevels and refining them can be a chore in the initial stages so I’ve done the groundwork for you so it’ll be nice to take to the stones for your polishing pleasure.
This knife is made from carbon steels not stainless steel, this allows them to take a fine edge fairly easily but has a downside that they will rust not given the proper care and attention. Carbon steel forms a patina which can be very beautiful and acts as a protective layer slowing further corrosion.
